Description

horntools synthetic rope for winches

When used as a rope winch, the horntools synthetic ropes are characterized by their extremely low weight.
With a 4 ton winch system you save approx. 10 kg of weight so that you can drive in front of the axle year in and year out.

Security:

Safety is another point that comes into play with synthetic fiber ropes. If the rope breaks, it will not spring open like a steel rope, which can cause serious injuries.

Rope guide:

Recovery winches that are installed in cars and four-wheel drive vehicles usually do not have a cable guide. Without a rope guide, it is inevitable that the ropes will not be wound properly , so they will roll over. With a steel rope, this immediately leads to a strand break inside the rope. Synthetic ropes are much less sensitive.

Heat sensitivity:

Of course, there is no advantage without a disadvantage - the synthetic ropes are very sensitive to heat, which is particularly true with electric winches that have a brake in the rope drum. The electric motor and the drum brake heat up.
That's why our ropes have heat protection for the first layer of rope, which absorbs a lot.
Care:

Care for synthetic fiber ropes is very important. We offer an impregnation that not only keeps the rope supple, but also prevents water and dust from penetrating.
The impregnation lubricates the rope on the outside and thus ensures less friction. Water can become a problem if it freezes and the rope breaks very easily. The dust and dirt gets stuck in the rope and wears down the material over time. Do not put your synthetic fiber ropes in the washing machine or wash them under extreme pressure with a high-pressure cleaner.
This leads to the weakening of the fibers.

Data sheet horntools synthetic rope 10 mm
  • Material: UHMWPE polyethylene
  • UHMWPE: Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene
  • Strands: 12 (1x12, 2x6)
  • Melting point: 150° C
  • Specific Weight: 0.97 kg

UHMWPE is highly resistant to corrosive chemicals. (Exception: oxidizing acids) It is non-toxic, odorless and tasteless. The fiber is perfectly suited as a winch rope, thanks to its extremely low moisture absorption, very low coefficient of friction and self-lubrication
resistant to abrasion. Their coefficient of friction is significantly lower than nylon and is comparable to Teflon. However, the abrasion resistance is higher than Teflon.

UHMWPE: Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene
Also known as HMPE high modulus polyethylene, or HDPE high performance polyethylene, it has extremely long chains. The molecular mass is between 2 and 6 million. The longer chains strengthen the intermolecular interactions, meaning the fiber becomes stronger, making extremely high breaking load and impact resistance possible. Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene is a subgroup of thermoplastic polyethylene.
